He Calms the Chaos - Original Painting
Acrylic and Pencil on Cradled Wood Panel
Inspired by the struggle with anxiety and depression and the power of the Holy Spirit to calm even the darkest thoughts. The Bible describes the word of God as the "sword of the Spirit." The words of the Bible have the power to cut through darkness and calm our souls. As a counselor, family member and friend of those who struggle with anxiety, I have seen healing when we allow God in and take authority over the thoughts that try to overtake our minds. The dove represents the Holy Spirit and he stands peacefully on a rock in the midst of struggle. May this image be a reminder that even in the darkest struggles, God is with us and we can take a step towards Him by reading the word out loud and asking others to pray over us. He has given us weapons and authority over the schemes of the enemy. We can have peace in the midst of trials.
Background is built up with paint, pencil and scratched off paint layers to bring movement and depth that represents swirling dark thoughts. Sides are painted black and it is wired and ready to hang. Stands up on a shelf by itself as well.
